On July 21, Feng Guoqin, Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of China
Economic and Social Council met with part of Chinese and European delegates who
had come to Shanghai to participate in the workshop of the joint research group
on economic and trade issues of the China-EU Round Table.
Feng Guoqin briefed Sukhdev SHARMA, member of Group III (Various Interests),
European Economic and Social Committee and President of the Follow-up Committee
of EU-China Round Table, and others on Shanghai economic and social development
and the operation of the World Expo Shanghai. He said that the EU is strongly
superior in the fields such as service trade and new and high-tech. The holding
of the workshop of the joint research group on economic and trade issues of the
China-EU Round Table will bring fresh experiences in the fields such as
promoting trade development to Shanghai. He hoped that experts, scholars and
people of the business circles will exchange extensively to promote mutual
understanding and explore win-win strategies.
The mechanism of China-EU Round Table was co-established by China Economic
and Social Council and European Economic and Social Committee in 2006. To
strengthen discussion and research on China-EU economic and trade issues, both
sides agreed to set up a joint research group on economic and trade issues of
the China-EU Round Table. The research group will hold its first workshop on
July 23-24 in Shanghai to make in-depth discussion and research on major issues
in China-EU economic and trade fields.
Wang Shenghong, Vice Chairman of China Economic and Social Council, Zhou
Taitong, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese
People's Political Consultative Conference and Cai Wei, Vice Chairman of the
Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference attended the meeting. |
